A walk along the Vienne and the Loire rivers from Chinon to Saumur. A craddle of history, Plantagenets, the French Royalty. This region has a very rich architectural heritage. In the abbey of Fontevrault, you will see the tumbs of Henri II Plantagenet, Alienor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lion Heart.
We start the walk in Chinon, crown by its old medieval castle, a good introduction to the history of the area.
We walk through the vineyards of Chinon and Bourgueil, We stay three nights in Montsoreau on the Loire, from where we visit the vineyards of Saumur Champigny with its picturesque troglodyte villages. Candes Saint-Martin, Turquay .... Beautiful villages on the Loire, each with its own story. We finish the walk in Saumur.
